Maison Ellie Interiors specializes in full-service and virtual interior design for every stage of family life. Founded and led by principal designer Rebecca Simon from her Ontario home base, the studio was born from a deeply personal experience. After designing the nurseries of her own two children, Rebecca discovered her love for creating nurturing spaces for fellow families who value both charm and practicality in their homes.
As her brand partner, our role was to capture the softness of childhood, the elegance of European-inspired interiors, and the trust and ease of working with Rebecca – a mother, designer, and thoughtful creative partner.
Developing Maison Ellie’s brand identity started with understanding the studio’s unique position: where refined family living meets imaginative design. This foundation informed a visual suite that delicately balances whimsy with classic appeal, thoughtfulness with approachability, and family-centered comfort with enduring style.
The primary logo became the cornerstone, featuring a refined serif wordmark with subtle quirks – slightly exaggerated curves and unexpected letterforms that lend old-world charm while maintaining sophistication. These carefully crafted details capture the European influence and inspired spirit that defines the brand.
The brand mark functions as a flexible design asset, performing equally well in digital environments and on printed materials. Through the "ME" monogram, aligned clients get a feel for Rebecca's style – the perfect blend of warmth, whimsy, and thoughtful elegance that marks every interaction.
The supporting illustrations and patterns are all hand-drawn, capturing the heart of family life and that sense of childhood wonder we never quite outgrow. You'll find a classic teddy bear that brings comfort and sweet nostalgia, a charming family home that feels like the ideal mix of countryside charm and cozy city living, and a scalloped table lamp we lovingly call "lamp o'clock" – because there's something so comforting about winding down at the end of the day. The signature patterns combine classic stripes with delicate florals, which happens to be one of Rebecca's all-time favourite textile pairings.
The colour story draws from nature's most comforting tones – soft neutrals that feel both polished and playful. The warm browns offer comfort and strength, the soft blues bring peace and trust, the fresh greens add life and energy, and the gentle pinks wrap everything in warmth. It's the kind of palette that grows with families, feeling just as perfect for a nursery as it does for a grown-up living room.
The website template was chosen with the reader’s journey in mind, understanding that Maison Ellie's ideal clients are seeking a hands-off experience with a designer they can trust.
The cohesive styling brings together the brand patterns, illustrations (Nine Thirteen Studio), website copy (Woven Copy), and photography to create a whole experience that appeals to design-conscious parents. The result is a digital maison that truly reflects Maison Ellie’s layered and welcoming approach.
Not every brand needs a full suite of custom illustrations and patterns. But for Maison Ellie, it’s exactly what was needed to create a multi-layered identity. Collaborating with Chelsea and Rylea of Nine Thirteen to bring these elements to life was wonderful. Their artistic vision complemented the brand strategy. The result goes beyond branding – it's a thoughtfully crafted world that ideal clients can be part of.
