Meghan Jay Design is a residential interior design firm serving Chicago's North Shore, specializing in full furnishings, large-scale renovations, and custom builds. Meghan's style is colour-opinionated and layered with architectural detail — the kind of interiors that feel simultaneously collected, timeless, and genuinely livable. Her ideal clients are busy families who want a home with real character: spaces that honour cherished heirlooms, embrace expressive patterns and colours, and remain relevant without ever feeling too perfect or precious.

As Meghan Jay Design's brand partner, our role was to build an identity that matches her interiors in spirit — time-honoured and sophisticated, with just enough personality and warmth to feel entirely approachable.

THE BRANDING JOURNEY

The primary logo is both classic and charming, with a touch of the unexpected. Rooted in a traditional serif typeface that evokes warmth and nostalgia, the wordmark has been elevated with custom swashes and ligatures that introduce a playful, original quality. The staggered placement of "Meghan" and "Jay" adds further depth, creating a mark that feels like a signature as much as a logo.

The brand mark was inspired by the makers' marks found on the underside of vintage furniture and antique pottery: those quiet, considered stamps of authorship that speak to legacy and craftsmanship. For Meghan, whose practice is built around sourcing one-of-a-kind heirloom pieces and artwork for her clients, it felt like the most natural expression of what she does. The "M" monogram, enclosed within a beaded oval border, carries exactly that quality — understated, artisanal, and deeply intentional.

The MJD brand colour palette draws from heritage homes, vintage wallpapers, and the characterful, colour-forward sensibility that defines Meghan's interiors. Warm, joyful yellows bring confidence and creativity to the forefront, while considered blues introduce depth, trust, and a sense of calm. Together, the palette manages to feel both sophisticated and playful — precisely the balance Meghan strikes in every room she designs.

The typography framework pairs a classic serif headline with a clean, modern sans-serif for body copy. This juxtaposition allows the brand to move easily between traditional and contemporary contexts, mirroring Meghan's ability to blend architectural heritage with fresh, colour-confident design. Whether used in a proposal, on the website, or across social content, the pairing reads as polished, warm, and considered.

The Meghan Jay Design website was styled to welcome clients into Meghan's world from the very first scroll. Layered photography, warm tones, clear user pathways, and charming website copy from Woven Copy Studio create a digital experience that feels personal and reassuring, giving homeowners the confidence to reach out.
